Westpac Resue Helicopter

Did you know that at Westpac we help look after the special helicopters that rescue people in trouble?

Last year the brave people who fly the rescue helicopters saved more than 5,000 people. They fly to places too dangerous for boats and cars, and they can get there quickly to help people who are badly hurt.

One of our helicopters is a Bolkov Kawasaki 117. These types of helicopter are really fast, which means they can come to the rescue of people in minutes. They have short rotor blades which lets them fly close to cliffs and buildings, making them perfect for rescue work. Each of the helicopters also has more than $1million of special rescue equipment on board.

True Story

A farmer was out on his farm when he started to have pains in his chest. He managed to get back into his house and dial 111.

An ambulance was called, but the Westpac rescue helicopter arrived on the scene to save his life first.

The crew revived the farmer and safely delivered him to hospital. If it wasn’t for the speed and skill of the people who fly the helicopters he would not be alive today.
